• Sophomore Tatiana Cortez hit a two-run home run in the first inning.
• Freshman Allyson Frei had a strong debut on the mound, pitching three scorless innings, striking out five and allowing just two hits.
• Sophomore Taylor Coroneos went 2-for-3 with two RBIs on the day.
• Sophomore Jordan Weed registered her first save of the season pitching four innings and striking out three.
• Freshman Annie Murphy had two stolen bases on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• With the score 0-0, Cortez followed up junior Megan Cooley's single with a two-run home run to make it 2-0.
• Coroneos, Cooley, and freshman Ashley Chimento made it a 5-0 game in the second by reaching on a variation of base hits and errors.
• Sophomore Allison Chase and Chloe Sharabba would score off of a base hit by Jordan Weed to make it 7-0 in the third.
• After stealing second base in the fourth, Annie Murphy scored off of junior Jessie Daulton's single up the middle.
• Daulton would score off of Cortez's fielder's choice to make it a 9-0 game in the fourth.
• Weed came in for relief, surrendering four runs in the final four innings.
• George Mason's Liz Seymour would put her team on the board after scoring on a passed ball.
• Brooke Blankenship of George Mason drove in a run for her second hit of the game, making it a 9-2 score.
• After George Mason scored three runs in the seventh, Weed got out of a bases loaded jam by striking out the final batter.
