HOW IT HAPPENED
- Penn State had a 22-15 lead midway through the first half but Boston College cut into that with an 8-2 run that made it a 24-23 game with 6:13 left. Graduate student Eli Carter capped the run with a 3-pointer.
- The Nittany Lions had a five-point lead with 3:10 left, but BC closed out the half by scoring seven of the last eight points to take a 30-29 lead into the break.
- The Eagles started the second half with an 8-2 run to push the lead to 38-31. Clifford scored all eight of those points in the first 2:30.
- BC held a 40-36 lead, but Penn State went on a 10-0 run over 3:16 to take a 46-40 lead at 13:11. Shep Garner had eight of the points.
- Boston College battled back to cut it to 48-47, but Penn State scored seven straight to make it 55-47 with 7:41 left.
- BC only got as close as six points the rest of the way.
