BC HOSTS CCSU FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2008
• Boston College will host Central Connecticut on Thursday at 6 p.m. inside Conte Forum.
• Fans who bring non-perishable food items to the game can get a discounted ticket of $5. Boxes will be placed at the Gate B and Gate C entrances, as well at the student entrance.
• The game will be streamed on ESPN3 and on the radio on WEEI 850 AM and bceagles.com.
• This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the squads and all of them have been in Conte Forum. BC won the last time in 2008, 80-65.
• Boston College opened the season with a 75-49 win against St. Francis Brooklyn last Saturday.
• The Blue Devils have lost their first two outings: a 92-83 double overtime game at home against Hartford and a 77-61 loss at Penn on Sunday.
ST. FRANCIS BROOKLYN HIGHLIGHTS
• Graduate student Eli Carter had a game-high 23 points to go along with seven rebounds. He was 10-for-19 from the field.
• Freshman Jerome Robinson added 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals in his Boston College debut. He was 7-for-13 from the floor.
• Senior Dennis Clifford secured a career-high 11 rebounds and had seven points.
• Freshman Sammy Barnes-Thompkins scored nine points off the bench.
• It was the largest win for BC since a 30-point triumph over St. Francis Brooklyn on November 12, 2010.
CARTER, ROBINSON SHINE IN WIN OVER ST. FRANCIS BROOKLYN
• Graduate student Eli Carter had a game-high 23 points to go along with seven rebounds as Boston College won its season opener vs. St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, 75-49.
• Carter was 10-for-19 from the field.
• Freshman Jerome Robinson added 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals in his Boston College debut. He was 7-for-13 from the floor.
• Senior Dennis Clifford secured a career-high 11 rebounds and had seven points.
• Freshman Sammy Barnes-Thompkins scored nine points off the bench.
• Boston College started by scoring the game's first 13 points. Carter led the attack with six points. St. Francis Brooklyn missed its first 15 shots from the floor.
• With the Eagles on top, 21-8, they went on an 11-1 run over 3:21 to build a 32-9 lead with 4:02 left in the first half. Clifford scored four of those 11 points.
• BC took a 41-16 lead into the locker room.
• The Eagles' lead reached as high as 28 points early in the second half and never got below 19 the rest of the way.
LAST TIME vs. CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
• Sophomore Rakim Sanders totaled 24 points and seven rebounds and classmate Joe Trapani tallied 13 points and nine rebounds to lead Boston College to a 80-65 season-opening win over Central Connecticut on November 14, 2008.
• Central Connecticut jumped out early and led by as many as seven points - 10-3 - in the opening minutes. The Blue Devils led 14-8, before BC used a 9-2 run - capped by a Trapani three-pointer - to claim its first lead at 17-16 with 11:10 left in the opening half.
• CCSU regrouped and outscored the Eagles 9-4 over the next five-plus minutes to take a 25-22 advantage. It was then that Sanders took control. The sophomore swingman scored 12 straight BC points, while BC limited the visitors to three free throws, to vault the Eagles to a 34-28 margin late in the half.
• Junior Tyler Roche's field goal with one second left before the intermission gave BC a 36-28 cushion.
• BC continued its run early in the second half, outscoring CCSU 13-6 in the first three minutes. Central Connecticut never trimmed the margin below 10 points the rest of the way.
• The Eagles extended the advantage to 21 points - 62-41 - on two free throws by freshman Dallas Elmore with 11:07 to play. After CCSU answered with three straight points, Elmore nailed a three-pointer and classmate Evan Ravenel followed with an inside hoop to give BC a 67-44 lead - its largest margin - with 8:12 left in the contest.
