BC HOSTS #10 VIRGINIA FRIDAY NIGHT
• Boston College will host No. 10 Virginia on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Newton Campus Field.
• The Cavaliers hold a 5-4-2 record in the all-time series but the teams are even, 4-4-2, since BC joined the ACC in 2005.
• The Eagles' have only won once in the series since 2008 and that came in 2011. Virginia holds a 2-1-2 record since the 2009 season.
• Boston College got back in the win column on Tuesday night when it beat Brown on the road, 1-0. It lost to No. 6 Wake Forest last weekend, 5-0, in Newton.
• Virginia has won its last two outings, both of them 3-2 triumphs at home over Louisville and Portland.
MORO'S GOAL LIFTS BC PAST BROWN
• Sophomore Mohammed Moro recorded his first career goal in the 16th minute to lead Boston College to a 1-0 victory at Brown on Tuesday night.
• Senior Alex Kapp matched a season high with five saves in goal for his second win of 2015.
• Head Coach Ed Kelly recorded his 298th career win. He would become the 19th active head coach and the third in the ACC to reach 300 wins.
• Both teams took a shot before Moro scored the game's lone goal in the 16th minute. He took a shot that was blocked by a defender, but the rebound fell back to him and he put it in the back of the net for the score.
• Brown took 12 shots in the second half and all of Kapp's saves came in the second 45.
• The Eagles had a chance to add some insurance in the 53rd minute when Brown committed a foul in the box. Sophomore Len Zeugner took the ensuing penalty kick but shot it wide of the target.
• The Bears took four shots in the final six minutes but could not get on the board.
• Brown held a 17-13 advantage in shots and took 13 corner kicks. BC took just one corner.
LAST TIME vs. VIRGINIA
• Virginia's Brian James scored the match's only goal in the 98th minute as the Cavaliers defeated Boston College, 1-0, on November 8, 2013.
• The Cavaliers held an 11-7 advantage in shots, including 5-0 in the overtime. Virginia had five shots on goal, while BC had four.
• Both sides had little chances in the first half as the Cavaliers and Eagles managed only two shots apiece. UVA managed the one shot on goal.
• The second half was more up-tempo. Diego Medina-Mendez led BC with two shots on goal late in the half. Virginia had three chances in the 66th minute but the Eagles defense held on. The Cavaliers also had two corner kick attempts in the final minute of the game. BC managed to prevent Virginia from getting a shot on goal off the corner kicks.
• In the overtime, Virginia outshot BC, 5-0. The Cavaliers finally struck for a goal in the 98th minute of the match. Virginia earned a free kick from 35 yards outside the box. James one-timed a deflected ball from Kevin McBride from six yards out to the near post for the win.
• Cole DeNormandie and Medina-Mendez led BC on offense with two shots apiece. Darius Madison had three shots for Virginia.
THE GREEN TEAM
• Boston College sports 14 freshmen on its 2015 roster, the most of any team in the ACC.
• North Carolina and Pittsburgh have 11 freshmen on their squads while NC State and Syracuse have 10.
• Through 11 games this season, 10 of the 14 freshmen have seen time on the pitch.
• Freshman Trevor Davock is tied for the team lead with four goals, four assists and 12 points. His three game-winning goals are a team-best.
• Simon Enstrom ranks third on the team in goals (3) and points (8).
• Freshmen Derek Lyons and Tommy Garcia-Morillo both scored a goal in a 4-1 win at Virginia Tech.
• Freshman Joshua Forbes has also recorded an assist.
• 38 of BC's 58 points - 66 percent - have come from freshmen and sophomores.
DAVOCK'S NUMBERS
• Freshman Trevor Davock is tied for the team lead with four goals, four assists and 12 points. His three game-winning goals are a team-best.
• He had nine points in five matches spanning from September 11-25.
• Davock ranks fifth in the ACC in assists, ninth in goals and 11th in points.
LEWIS GETS HOT
• Junior Zeiko Lewis is tied for the team lead with four goals, four assists and 12 points.
• He set career highs with two goals and five points in a 3-1 win against Connecticut on September 22.
• He ranks ranks fifth in the ACC in assists, ninth in goals and 11th in points.
• Lewis has been a crucial part of the BC offense the last three seasons. His 18 career assists rank eighth all-time at Boston College.
• As a freshman, he earned numerous honors including: NSCAA All-South Atlantic Second Team, ACC Freshman of the Year, All-ACC Second Team, All-ACC Freshman Team and Soccer America All-Freshman First Team.
• Lewis led the ACC in assists (11) and assists per game (0.61) that year, and ranked 10th in the conference in points (17).
• He ranked third in the country in assists per game and fourth in assists.
• Last year, Lewis was an All-ACC Second Team player with three goals and three assists.
ENSTROM EMERGES
• Freshman Simon Enstrom scored seven of his eight points in two matches against Boston University and #23 SMU.
• He scored twice in Boston College's 3-2 win at BU on August 31. He scored in the 16th minute and notched the game-winner to break a 2-2 tie in the 80th minute.
• He then recorded a goal and an assist in the Eagles' 4-2 upset win over #23 SMU.
AMPADU'S TWO GOALS
• Senior Atobra Ampadu got his first start of the season against #23 SMU and made it count.
• He scored the Eagles' first two goals just 25 seconds apart to give BC a 2-1 lead in the 24th minute. It was his first two-goal game at Boston College.
• After the Mustangs scored the match's first goal in the 13th minute, Ampadu equalized the match 10 minutes later. He took a pass from freshman Simon Enstrom and sent a cross near the goal line from the right side. The keeper got to it, but deflected it into the back of his own net to make it 1-1.
• Just 25 seconds later, Ampadu had a brilliant strike from more than 30 yards away that beat the diving keeper to give BC a 2-1 lead.
KELLY APPROACHING 300 WINS
• Head coach Ed Kelly has a career record of 298-215-61 in his 31st year of coaching collegiate soccer. His record at BC is 258-202-55 in his 28th season.
• Kelly would become the 19th active coach and the third in the ACC with 300 career coaching victories.
• He currently ranks 44th all-time in coaching wins with 298.
