BOSTON COLLEGE vs. COLORADO COLLEGE
Boston College and Colorado College meet up in the regular season for consecutive years for the first time since 1987 and 1988. Last season, the Eagles welcomed CC to The Heights on Oct. 24, 2014 and skated past the Tigers, 6-2. There have been several meetings in the postseason, but it has been about 26 years since these two teams played in back-to-back years. Before last year's tilt, Colorado College had upended the Eagles' hopes at the national title with a juggernaut team in 2011. After capturing the 2011 Hockey East Tournament title, BC earned the top seed in the West Regional and was flying high into its first-round matchup against CC. Boston College goalie John Muse, who had been 8-0 with a 1.95 goals-against average in NCAA tournament play and starred on a pair of title teams in 2010 and 2008, was pulled after two periods with the Eagles (30-8-1) trailing 7-2. The Eagles eventually fell, 8-4, and exacted their revenge at Kelley Rink last year. In the early goings of the series, Boston College had done 9-0-1 against the Tigers from 1968 to 1998. Boston College is in control of the overall series, 13-5-1, having gone unbeaten in 30 years (9-0-1) against Colorado College from Dec. 30, 1968 to Dec. 27, 1998. The Eagles won the first two meetings on Jan. 2, 1949 (6-5 OT) and March 18, 1949 (7-3) before the Tigers claimed the next three of four. The last time the Eagles ventured to Colorado Springs was Nov. 12, 1998 when BC won, 2-1. All-time in Colorado Springs, the Eagles are 6-2-1 against Colorado College.
EYE ON THE TIGER
Colorado College finished in last place of the National College Hockey Conference last year, winning only two games in conference (2-19-3) and finished the year with a 6-26-3 total. The Tigers have had a tough time erasing last season's finish by going winless against Hockey East to start the season. CC opened at home against UMass and lost 6-3, 4-3, respectively, before suffering a pair of one-goal losses (3-2, 2-1) at UMass Lowell last weekend. The Tigers have a large roster, welcoming back 17 letterwinners but ushering in the nation's second-largest class of freshmen. Colorado College welcomed 14 new skaters this season, one less than Arizona State in its first year in Division I. With that came a lack of size as Colorado College is the smallest team, by average, in weight (176 pounds) and tied for the shortest team, by average (5'11), in all of college hockey. Last season, Cody Bradley led the Tigers offensively with 30 points (10-20-30), while his brother, a freshman this season, has stepped in and is tied for the team lead with four points (3-1-4) through four games. In net, CC has split time with junior Tyler Marble (who played at BC last year) and rookie Jacob Nehama. Offensively, CC is averaging 2.25 goals per game in the early goings (tied for 37th nationally) and surrendering 3.5 goals per game (tied for 42nd). Colorado College is one of 12 teams without a victory that has started its season and is led by second-year skipper Mike Haviland.
OFFENSIVE NUGGETS
- Colin White notched his first two career goals as an Eagle against Wisconsin, including a power play tally that counted as BC's first 5-on-3 goal this season

- Freshman Miles Wood leads the Eagles in points with five (1-4-5) through three games. In two of his first three outings, Wood has turned in a multi-point effort
- The Eagles are one of 13 teams in college hockey averaging four goals or more. BC is tied for ninth in the nation in offense, scoring at a clip of four goals per game.
DEFENSIVE NUGGETS
- The last time Boston College shutout its opponent in the home opener was on Oct. 20, 2012, against Northeastern. Parker Milner stopped 26 pucks in that shutout

- The Eagles' defense is tied for second best in the nation, surrendering only one goal per game - BC is tied with UMass Lowell & Merrimack

He is tied for seventh, nationally, in save percentage (.958) and tied for eighth in goals against average (1.01). Only 12 other netminders have shutouts this season.

ROOKIE ROMP
Boston College's freshmen class came to play in the season opener at Army on Oct. 9 as three rookies scored their first collegiate goals. Miles Wood, Casey Fitzgerald and Chris Brown all found the back of the net in their first game donning the maroon and gold, marking the first time under Jerry York three freshmen scored in a season opener. They currently lead all classes in scoring with 13 points.
LUMBER YARD
Freshman forward Miles Wood set the tone early in his Eagle career, posting three points in his BC debut, including a goal and two assists. It has been 15 years since a rookie notched three points in his first-career game. The last time that occurred was when Ben Eaves doled out three assists in a 4-1 win over Notre Dame on Oct. 13, 2000 at Omaha Civic Auditorium. The last time any Eagle started the year with a three-point performance was when Brian Gibbons (2-1-3) and Brock Bradford (1-2-3) both turned the trick against Wisconsin on Oct. 10, 2008.
ZACH ATTACKS
Sophomore Zach Sanford scored his first-career power play goal at Army on Oct. 9 and followed that up with with his second extra-man tally at Rensselaer on Oct. 11. The last time an Eagle started the season with back-to-back power play goals was at the beginning of the 2008-09 season when Brock Bradford scored power play goals on Oct. 10 and Oct. 17, 2008. The two consectuvive goals for Sanford also marks his first-career goal scoring streak.
LIVING HISTORY
The Schiller Family Head Hockey Coach of Boston College, Jerry York, enters his 44th season of coaching college hockey. Not only is York the winningest coach in the game's history, having amassed 986 victories and a win-loss total of 986-592-105 (.616), York is approaching another historic benchmark. After locking up the most wins all-time at his alma mater (502) and heads into his 22nd season behind the Eagles' bench, he now has the 1,000-win plateau in his sites. York is just 14 wins away from hitting that number as he is already the winningest coach in the game's history.
CALLING ON CAL
Junior Chris Calnan not only scored a goal in his second-consecutive season opener on Oct. 9 at Army, he also logged his fifth-career game-winning goal and did so in his 75th-career game as an Eagle. The Norwell, Mass., native has now scored 32-career points.
