Lacrosse Ready for UNC

The Boston College lacrosse squad will take on Atlantic Coast Conference rival North Carolina on Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m. The game will be played at BC’s Newton Sports Complex.

Boston College Notes
• BC currently owns a 5-4 overall record. Earlier this week, the Eagles defeated Harvard, 7-5.
• The Eagles are ranked at No. 19 in the nation according to the IWLCA coaches’ poll released on March 20. In the latest deBeer women’s media poll, released the same day, BC was tabbed at No. 20.
• Boston College holds a 4-0 record so far this season when the team leads at the half.
• BC is currently nationally ranked in the top 20 for three statistical categories. The team is ranked 7th in draw controls (15.63), 16th in points (145.0) and 19th in scoring offense (13.75).
• As a team, the Eagles lead the ACC in draw controls per game (15.62).
• Freshman Mikaela Rix leads the team with 27 goals and seven hat tricks this season. She currently leads the ACC with 3.38 goals per game and is ranked eighth in the nation for total goals scored.
• Grad student and captain Kristin Igoe continues to make her mark in the BC history books. She currently sits in third place on the school’s all-time record list for total points with 185, and with 141 goals, she is just four goals shy of moving into third place on the career record list for that category.
• Freshman Covie Stanwick and junior Brooke Blue have added to the offensive attack for the Eagles this season. Stanwick leads the team with 30 points and 13 assists. Blue currently has 16 goals.
• Senior Brittany Wilton has 33 draw controls so far this season, good for 30th in the nation.
Scouting North Carolina
• UNC is currently 9-1 overall and 1-0 in the ACC. Last week, the Tar Heels defeated Old Dominion, 14-3, after losing to Georgetown, 9-8.
• The Tar Heels are ranked third in the nation in this week's IWLCA coaches’ poll.
• North Carolina is led by senior Laura Zimmerman (39 points on 28 goals and 11 assists), senior Becky Lynch (39 goals on 23 goals, 16 assists) and sophomore Abbey Friend (33 goals, three assists).
Series History
• In their last meeting, North Carolina defeated BC, 15-10, on March 26, 2011.
• UNC leads the all-time series against BC, 7-1. The Eagles defeated the Tar Heels in double-overtime in 2008, but North Carolina has earned the decision in the four most recent meetings between the schools.
