CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Reggie Jackson scored a game-high 25 points and senior Corey Raji registered 22 points and nine rebounds to lead Boston College to an 86-75 ACC victory over Georgia Tech before 6,516 fans in Conte Forum.
Jackson missed just one shot in the contest - shooting 8-for-9 from the floor (3-for-3 treys) and 6-for-6 from the foul line.
With the game tied at 39-39 at halftime, the Eagles used an early second-half run to gain the lead, withstood a Yellow Jacket rally and surged late in the contest to secure the victory.
BC began the second half with a 21-8 run to claim a 60-47 advantage with 14:09 to play. Jackson hit two treys and converted one old-fashioned three-point play, and Raji sank three field goals, including one three-point play to spark the run.
After the teams traded three-point field goals, Georgia Tech climbed back into the game with a 17-7 run that trimmed the BC margin to three points - 70-67 - with 4:32 remaining.
BC held off the visitors with a late 8-0 run that included five points from Raji.
The Eagles led by as many as seven points in the first half (21-14 on a Raji trey with 12:00 left), before Georgia Tech used a 10-2 run to claim a one-point lead - 24-23 - with 7:43 to play. BC responded and twice gained four-point margins, before the Yellow Jackets ran off six straight points on consecutive treys to take a 35-33 advantage.
Jackson's three-point play - on his third dunk and a free throw - and a Raji three-pointer gave BC a 6-4 edge in scoring in the half's final three minutes to even the score at 39-39 at the break.
