CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Reggie Jackson scored a game-high 29 points and the Eagles used a late 18-6 run as Boston College earned a 75-66 ACC victory over North Carolina State before 3,652 fans in Conte Forum.
The victory raised BC's conference record to 3-0. BC has a 13-4 overall mark.
Trailing 60-57 with 4:17 left, Boston College hit three consecutive three-pointers to grab a six-point advantage and Jackson sank 3-of-4 free throws to complete a 12-0 run and give the home team a 69-60 lead with 1:18 to play. Senior Biko Paris, who had made just one trey to that point, sank two of the three-pointers, while classmate Corey Raji hit the other one.
NC State hit two treys in the final 70 seconds, but BC secured the victory by hitting 4-of-4 free throws (two each from Jackson and senior Josh Southern) and getting a dunk from senior Joe Trapani.
BC led by as many as 11 points twice in the first half (at 22-11 and 24-13), before NC State closed the margin with a 13-4 rally in the final six minutes of the half. BC led 28-26 at the intermission.
The two teams traded the lead early in the second half. The Wolfpack scored the first field goal of the second half to even the score and, after a Trapani lay-in and a Jackson three-point play, ran off seven straight points to take a 35-33 advantage with 16:52 to play. It marked NC State's first lead since 2-0.
BC answered with a 7-0 run to claim a 40-35 lead and extended its margin to eight points - 50-42 - on a Jackson three-pointer with 10:45 remaining.
The visitors fought back with a 14-3 run to take the first of its three three-point leads at 56-53 (also at 58-55 and 60-57), setting the stage for the Eagles' decisive rally in the game's final four minutes.
Game Notes: Jackson scored 14 of his 29 points in the game's final 11:25. The junior shot 9-for-13 (3-for-6 treys) from the field and 8-for-9 from the foul line. He also also recorded six assists, one steal and a season-best three blocked shots. The last of his three blocked shots was a remarkably-athletic swat on a Richard Howell shot with 6:04 to play and the Wolfpack leading by three points ... Trapani equaled his career high (set twice before) with 12 rebounds ... Paris finished with 12 points and five assists (and just one turnover) in 29 minutes .... Raji totaled 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal ... After shooting just 34.4 percent (11-for-32) from the field in the first half, BC shot 55.2 percent (16-for-29) in the second half ... BC finished with a 38-37 rebounding margin.
