Five Lacrosse Players Earn ACC Academic Honors

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College placed five student-athletes on the 2010 All-ACC Academic women's lacrosse team as announced by the conference earlier this month.
Seniors Lauren Costello and Peyton Killeen, juniors Hannah Alley, Kristin Igoe and Jillian Rekart were all named to the team. It is the first time BC placed five student-athletes on the All-ACC Academic team.
Costello, who graduated in May, leaves the program as one of the most decorated lacrosse players. She earned second-team All-American honors in June and was an All-ACC first team honoree. She led BC in scoring with led the Eagles with 52 goals, 39 assists and 91 points.
Killeen, a midfielder, a team captain, started every game this season. She scored 16 goals and notched three assists. Killeen also graduated from BC in May.
Igoe, a junior from Framingham, was named an All-ACC second team for the second consecutive season. She finished the season 35 goals and 11 assists.
Alley, a junior from Illinois, started and played in 18 games. She finished the season with 19 goals and four assists. Alley notched the game-winning goal in the 9-8 double-overtime win over Brown on April 18.
Rekart, a junior from Maryland, played and started in 18 games. She notched five goals and three assist. Rekart has started in 52 of 53 career games.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the award must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
