Football Completes Second Intrasquad Scrimmage

All four quarterbacks vying for the starting job saw action Saturday as the Boston College football team completed its second intrasquad scrimmage of the spring practice season in Alumni Stadium.
Sophomore Dave Shinskie completed 7-of-14 passes for 61 yards with one touchdown. Sophomore Mike Marscovetra went 5-of-9 for 83 yards. Freshman Chase Rettig was 4-for-13 for 66 yards and a touchdown, while fellow freshman Josh Bordner went 1-of-7 for six yards.
Redshirt freshman tailback Sterlin Phifer led all rushers with 72 yards on 23 carries. Sophomore wide receiver Donte Elliott had two catches for 49 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, sophomore linebacker Luke Kuechly led the way once again with seven tackles. Senior defensive end Alex Albright picked up six tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery. Junior cornerback Donnie Fletcher also notched six tackles plus an interception with a 29-yard return. Junior cornerback Isaac Johnson had six tackles plus an interception with a 12-yard return.
The Eagles will wrap up the spring practice season with the annual Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game next Saturday in Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and admission is free.
