The Boston College lacrosse team dropped a 15-6 contest to No. 4 North Carolina on Saturday afternoon in Newton, Mass.
The Eagles' record falls to 7-2 on the year while the Tar Heels improve to 8-1.
BC opened the game with a very strong showing, tallying the first four goals of the game by the 8:32 mark of the first half. Juniors Kristin Igoe and Hannah Alley along with sophomore Brittany Wilton and freshman Brooke Blue each put the ball in the net for the Eagles to give BC a 4-0 lead.
The Tar Heels bounced back from the Eagles' attack and scored four goals of their own before the halftime whistle blew, sending the two teams into the second period tied at four.
UNC came out of halftime looking very strong, as the visitors were able to score five unanswered goals before the Eagles made a goalie change, bringing in sophomore Catherine Conway to take over between the pipes. Although she helped provide support, the Tar Heels added another four scores before BC grabbed its fifth goal of the game.
Igoe tallied her second score and senior Lauren Costello notched a goal as well but North Carolina would offset those with two more goals while on the man-advantage. The game would end with the score at 15-6.
Junior goalie Sheila Serafino made six saves for the Eagles and Conway tallied three more for the team as North Carolina outshot BC 30-16 in the game.
Boston College will next travel to play ACC foe Virginia next Saturday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m.
