The Boston College lacrosse team continued its great run to open the season by earning a 13-7 win over Holy Cross on Wednesday afternoon in Worcester, Mass.
The Eagles move to 6-0 while the Crusaders are now 2-5. It is the first time ever that BC has started the season 6-0 and it is also the longest winning streak that program has ever recorded.
BC scored first in the contest, with freshman Brooke Blue scoring at the 19:48 mark of the match to make it 1-0. Senior Peyton Killeen followed up a few minutes later on a free position shot to give BC a 2-0 lead.
Senior Lauren Costello and junior Kristin Igoe scored for the Eagles to put the pressure on the Crusaders, but Holy Cross managed to mount a comeback effort of its own and take a 6-4 lead over the Eagles at the 2:31 mark of the first half.
Regaining its strength, BC refused to the game slip out of its grasp. Thanks to three more tallies from Costello, four from sophomore Brittany Wilton and one from Igoe and Senior Mary Stinson, the Eagles scored nine straight goals and ended up notching a 13-7 win over the hometown Crusaders.
Junior goalie Sheila Serafino made nine saves on the day as BC outshot Holy Cross, 28-19.
Boston College will next travel to Maryland to take on the Terrapins this Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in College Park, Md.
