Baseball Beats No. 13 Miami In Series Finale
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore LHP Pat Dean has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office. Dean threw 7.0 innings of shutout baseball against No. 13 Miami on Sunday to lead Boston College to a 13-3 win.
Dean allowed just four hits and one walk in his 7.0 innings of work. He struck out seven on the day to improve his record to 5-3. He retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced and only two runners reached second base while he was on the hill.
Six of Dean's last seven outings on the mound have been quality starts. He has thrown 45.1 innings in those starts and has allowed just 10 earned runs. Even more impressive is his strikeout to walk ratio during that span. He has fanned 48 batters in those seven starts and walked just six.
For the season, Dean has a 3.42 ERA and 71 strikeouts compared to just 12 walks.
