The Boston College softball team (17-28, 3-12 ACC) dropped both games of an afternoon doubleheader to NC State, falling 3-0 in Game 1, and 8-7 in nine innings in Game 2 at Shea Field.

After NC State took a 3-0 lead in the top of third inning on an RBI double by Tori Ann Williford, Thunstrom fielded a single in left field and nailed Williford on a play at the plate with a perfect throw to Amy Tunstall.
The Eagles, however, were unable to get anything going against Campana in the late innings.
NC State-8, Boston College-7 (nine innings) - The Wolfpack got off to a quick start against BC starting pitcher Taylor Peyton. The first two NC State batters of the game reached on singles and were sacrificed over to second and third base. Another single gave NC State a 1-0 lead.
NC State added to its lead with two runs in the top of the second inning on a lead off home run, followed by a walk, a sacrifice bunt, and a double to go up 3-0.
In the top of the third inning, NC State added three runs to its lead on one hit. The Wolfpack loaded the bases on a wild pitch strike out, and two walks, scored one run on a hit batter, and two more on a double to left center to take a 6-0 lead.
The Eagles started their long rally back in the bottom of the third inning. Taylor Peyton and Angela Pandolfo walked to put runners on first and second with one out for Brittany Wilkins. The freshman then smashed a home run down the left field line to cut NC State's lead to 6-3. After Irene Delagrammaticas singled and Dani Weir walked, Amy Tunstall hit a single to right center to cut the lead to 6-4 before the Wolfpack got out of the inning.
BC cut the lead to 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Dani Weir, who with the bases loaded, hit the first pitch she saw up the middle to drive home Angela Pandolfo who had reached on a fielder's choice and advanced on a single by Delagrammaticas.
NC State took a 7-5 lead in the top of the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly, but the Eagles staged a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning.
With two outs in the inning, Taylor Peyton battled from behind in the count to line a single up the middle. The next batter, Alison Kooistra, lined a 2-1 pitch over the fence in left centerfield to tie the game at 7-7.
In the top of the ninth inning, NC State staged a two out rally of its own, with a double followed by a bloop single to take an 8-7 lead.
The Eagles got the tying run on base with two outs in the inning on an NC State error, but Peyton hit a towering fly ball to left field to end the game.
