Softball Faces Providence for Midweek Game

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College softball team (10-23, 2-7 ACC) takes a short trip to Providence (14-12) for a rescheduled midweek game. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Glay Field and will be broadcast on FriarsLive.
Last Time Out
BC is coming off its home opener at Harrington Athletic Village against No. 12 Virginia Tech, where the Eagles dropped all three games of the series. The weekend highlight came in game two, when Adriana Martinez launched a two-run home run. Martinez led the team offensively, hitting .500 with a 1.000 slugging percentage while totaling four hits and three RBI. Abby Ptak contributed three hits across the series, including two doubles. In the circle, Shannon MacLeod recorded a career-high five strikeouts in game three.
PTAK ATTACK!
The sophomore leads BC in multiple offensive categories, including batting average (.419), slugging percentage (.657), doubles (11), and hits (44). She is currently tied for 10th in the ACC in doubles this season. Ptak has recorded 15 multi-hit games and put together an impressive 16-game hitting streak earlier this year.
AD! AD!
Martinez is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak after batting .500 this past weekend against No. 12 Virginia Tech. She has totaled four home runs on the season, including a grand slam in a win over Pitt. Martinez has also recorded four multi-RBI games this year.
Good Knight
Freshman Emma Knight is off to an impressive start to her collegiate career, leading the team with 30 RBI while adding 31 hits on the season. Following the UNC series, Knight etched her name into the record books as just the sixth Eagle to hit two home runs in a single game. She also recorded seven RBI in that game, tying Hall of Famer Tatiana Cortez for the program mark, last achieved in 2017. Knight has totaled eight home runs so far this season.
Scouting Providence
The Eagles hold a 33-23-1 all-time record against the Friars, with their most recent win coming last season. Providence, a member of the Big East, enters the matchup with a 14-12 overall record and 7-2 mark in conference play. The Friars are coming off a 2-1 weekend series win over Seton Hall. Offensively, they're led by Emily Jonte (.407) and Cameron Dunn (.405), both hitting above .400 on the season. In the circle, Alyssa Twomey and Alannah Hopkins have each logged a team-high 39.0 innings.
