Lacrosse Defeats Holy Cross 15-7

Worcester, MA - The Boston College women's lacrosse team scored nine goals in the second period to defeat Holy Cross on Wednesday afternoon 15-7.
The win gives the Eagles a 6-1 non-conference record and a win heading into their weekend ACC match-up with Maryland.
Sophomore Kristin Igoe put the Eagles up 1-0 to start the game, but the fired off two quick goals to take control of the board. Senior Maura Mahoney tied the game at two before Holy Cross added a third goal to regain the lead. Junior Lauren Costello put the Eagles back on top with a two goals and freshman Sam Taylor added her first tally of the game. Senior Lauren Fitzpatrick added a final goal for the maroon and gold to give them a 6-5 lead heading into the break.
In the second half, Igoe once again opened the scoring with two free position goals to start the Eagles charge.
Fitzpatrick and fellow senior Jenna McCabe bookended a four goal stretch for the Eagles, that saw them pulling away from the Crusaders 6-12.
Freshman Sam Taylor and Sophomore Jill Rekart added tallies of their own towards the end of the frame and Costello notched the last goal of the frame and her fifth goal of the game with just over a minute to play.
Costello and Igoe led the Eagles with four goals each and McCabe tallied one goal and three assists to join them with four points each in the match.
Katie Monaghan made five saves in the victory.
The Eagles travel to Maryland this weekend to resume their ACC conference schedule at College Park on Saturday, March 21 at 12 p.m.
