Women's Lacrosse Falls to Maryland 10-5

College Park, Md. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team lost their second ACC match of the season falling to the University of Maryland 10-5 in College Park on Saturday afternoon.
Maryland took a 3-0 lead to start the game before sophomore Kristin Igoe opened the scoring for the Eagles. The Terrapins rattled off four more goals to take a 7-1 lead heading into halftime.
The Eagles tried to close the gap in the second frame with junior Lauren Costello scoring on a free position attempt nineteen seconds in the frame.
Maryland and BC traded goals with senior Lauren Fitzpatrick breaking through for the Eagles to push the score to 8-3 Terrapins.
Maryland added two more to give them a final tally of 10 in the game and scored twice more with less than two minutes to go with another tally for Costello and one for senior Jenna McCabe to close out the game 10-5 in favor of the Terps.
Goalkeeper Katie Monaghan made 15 saves in the loss, tying her career high saves from the 2007 season when she made 15 stops against Harvard.
The Eagles return to the northeast this week, traveling to Vermont for a non-conference match-up with the Catamounts in Burlington on Wednesday at 3 p.m., before traveling to Chapel Hill to take on the University of North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday March 28.
