Lacrosse Defeats Brown 13-5

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's lacrosse team defeated Brown University 13-5 in their 2009 season home opener.
Wednesday's game marked the first game for the lacrosse team in their new home at the state-of-the-art turf field at the Newton Campus Lacrosse/Soccer Complex.
The Eagles started the scoring at 28:12 in the opening with a goal from sophomore Jill Rekart from junior Lauren Costello.
Brown responded with a goal of their own to even the score 1-1.
BC retaliated with a three goal run from Jill Rekart, Hannah Alley and Jenna McCabe to put the maroon and gold on top 4-1.
The Bears tallied one more goal in the first period, but senior Maura Mahoney closed down the frame with two goals to keep BC in the lead 6-2.
The Eagles opened the second half trading goals with the Bears. BC went on a four goal run with back-to-back tallies by Lauren Fitzpatrick and Nicole Tufariello before closing out the game with a free position goal by Collins.
Goalkeeper Katie Monaghan made 14 saves in the game and only allowed five goals on 20 shots.
BC outshot Brown 34 to 20 in the game.
The Eagles head south the Virginia to take on Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Saturday March 14, at 1 p.m.
