Baseball Falls to St. Bonaventure in Extras, 15-14

LANTANA, Fla. - The Boston College baseball team (3-2, 0-0 ACC) was downed by the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (4-2, 0-0 A10) in 11 innings, 15-14, at the Santaluces Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles took the lead in the top of the 11th inning, when John Spatola hit a two-run single, to give BC a 14-12 advantage. The Bonnies answered in the bottom of the inning by scoring three runs on four hits, capped off by a walk-off RBI single from Randy Moley to end the game.
Every starter on both teams collected at least one hit, as the teams combined for 39. St. Bonaventure pounded out 23 hits on the afternoon and the Eagles totaled 16.
Six different BC starters registered multi-hit contests. First baseman Michael Belfiore tallied a 2-for-4 game with a home run, double, two RBIs, two walks and three runs scored. Belifore reached base five out of six plate appearances.
Second baseman Matt Hamlet posted a 3-for-6 day with two RBIs and one run scored.
Barry Butera and Spatola each collected two hits, a double and two RBIs. Tony Sanchez and Eric Campbell added two hits and one RBI.
Marc Perdios hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning. The freshman scored two runs and walked twice for the Eagles.
Pat Dean (0-1) suffered the loss in relief.
BC plays a doubleheader tomorrow at the Santaluces Sports Complex. The first game is at 11 a.m. against Lehigh followed by the second game at 4 p.m. versus Notre Dame.
