Eagles Drop ACC Quarterfinal Game to Miami

Kyle Wolff and Jack Toomey both had one RBI
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -Â No. 4 seed Boston College baseball (36-21) fell to No. 5 seed Miami (38-17) 8-2 in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on Thursday evening.

Kyle Wolff went 2-for-4 from the plate with one double and one RBI, while Jack Toomey also had an RBI for the Eagles. A.J. Colarusso went five innings on the mound and had five strikeouts.

The Eagles opened the scoring with two runs their first time up in the afternoon. With two outs in the bottom of the first, Jack Toomey hit an RBI single to right field that sent Ty Mainolfi across the plate to put BC in front. In the next at-bat, Kyle Wolff smashed an RBI double to right center that scored Toomey to double the lead.

The Hurricanes cut into the deficit in the second inning after scoring on a groundout to first base that sent the runner from third across the plate. In the next at-bat, Fabio Peralta hit a two-run home run to left field to give Miami the lead. The Hurricanes tacked on another run later in the inning after scoring on a wild pitch.

Miami added two runs in the fourth off a two-run home run from Alex Sosa. The Hurricanes extended their lead to five in the top of the seventh when Gabriel Milano hit an RBI double down the right field line. Miami capped things with a run in the eighth to make it a six-run game.
