Mickel Picco's three-pointers sinks Northeastern

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Sophomore Mickel Picco hit two three-pointers in the final four minutes of play to lead Boston College past Northeastern, 78-73, at Conte Forum Monday afternoon. Picco finished with 17 points and tied her career-high of five three-pointers in the single game.
The Eagles are now 11-3, while Northeastern drops to 5-5.
Along with Picco, the Eagles had three other players in double figures as Stefanie Murphy notched 20 points (six rebounds), Carolyn Swords added 17 points (seven rebounds) and Ayla Brown had 12 points (eight assists).
The Eagles trailed 65-60 at 6:05 to play in the game. The Eagles went on a nine to two run sparked by a block by Swords and a three pointer by Picco at 3:09 to play. BC extended the lead 71-67 when Brittanny Johnson found Murphy down low for a lay-up. On the Huskies next possession, Swords came up with her third block of the day and Picco converted her final three-pointer to seal the victory.
The Eagles held a slim halftime lead, 34-33, behind a 13-5 run in the final 6:20 to play. Sophomore Mickel Picco led the Eagles with nine points, while shooting 3-for-5 from the three-point line. Freshman Stefanie Murphy added eight points, while Brown had four points, three assists and two rebounds.
