Two baseball players were selected on the second day of the 2005 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, held on June 8. In the 19th round, the Los Angeles Dodgers chose senior outfielder Drew Locke (Weymouth, Mass.), the 586th overall pick. In the 33rd round, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim selected senior infielder Marco Albano (Arlington, Mass.), the draft's 1,003rd overall pick.
One of three players to start in all 57 games in 2005, Locke boasted a .298 batting average and led the Eagles with 19 doubles. He collected four home runs, 34 RBI and 100 total bases. Locke earned All-Big East second-team honors for the third consecutive season and established school career records for runs scored with 157 and for stolen bases with 49.
Albano boasted a .301 batting average, 20 runs scored and 30 RBI in 40 games. He collected a .365 on-base percentage, nine doubles, one triple and one home run. The All-New England second-team selection hit safely in each of the Eagles' first ten games this season.
Locke and Albano join fellow seniors Mike Wlodarczyk, Jason Delaney and Joe Martinez as 2005 Boston College draftees. Wlodarczyk (7th round), Delaney and Martinez (both 12th round) were selected in the first day of the 2005 First-Year Player Major League Draft.
