Softball Caps Western Trip With Win

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Boston College softball team posted its second-straight shutout and third in four games as it blanked Tulsa, 5-0, in the last game of the Torero Invitational at the University of San Diego.
The Eagles had 11 hits of the Tulsa pitchers, including 2-for-4 efforts from Alison Erbig, Summer Jarratt and Cara Blumfield.
BC got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning and then posted four more in the fifth. Erin Mackie pitched five innings, allowing three hits and striking out one. Kimberly Ryan came in for the last two innings and did not allow a hit.
The Eagles went 4-1 over the weekend at the Torero Invitational. On Friday, the Eagles topped Portland State, 2-1, and Brigham Young, 2-0. On Saturday, BC defeated San Diego, 14-0, but fell to Northern Iowa, 3-1.
BC is now 11-9 overall and will next face Boston University on Saturday, Mar. 17 at noon at BU.
