RADFORD, Va. - The Boston College softball team took both games of a doubleheader, 5-4 and 12-0, over Radford Saturday afternoon in non-conference softball action at Radford's Dedmon Center Park.
In the opening game, Kimberly Ryan kept Radford in check for six innings, including striking out seven batters in a row, 11 total on the day. With the Eagles ahead 3-1 in the top of the seventh, Alison Erbig and Summer Jarratt drove in two runs to drive the lead to 5-1. Radford tacked on three runs in a late-game rally, but fell short as Tekae Malandris struck out the final Radford batter to end the game.

BC took a 12-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning as Brooke Shull struck out six en route to the shutout. The 12-0 win marked the third time in four games BC held its opponent scoreless.
The wins lifted Boston College to 13-9 overall, while Radford dropped to 12-21-1 on the season. BC will open BIG EAST play on Sunday with a doubleheader against new conference member Virginia Tech.
