WORCESTER, Mass. -- Junior first baseman Sean McGowan had four hits and three RBI and sophomore designated hitter Steve Langone had three hits and two RBI to lead Boston College to an 8-4 come-from-behind win over host Holy Cross at Fitton Field.
McGowan registered two triples, while Langone recorded two doubles and one triple. BC finished the game with seven extra-base hits.
Trailing 4-0 after five innings, the Eagles scored four runs in the sixth stanza, one run in each of the seventh and eighth innings, and two runs in the ninth to secure the victory. Junior catcher Jeff Waldron began the sixth-inning rally with a leadoff double. One out later, McGowan's first triple scored Waldron with BC's first run. Langone followed with a triple, and then scored on senior center fielder Brendan Levesque's single to trim the BC deficit to 4-3. After Levesque moved to third on sophomore right fielder Chris Rosado's double, the senior scored the tying run on junior second baseman Mike Gambino's infield grounder.
The Eagles took a 5-4 lead with an unearned run in the seventh inning. Senior left fielder Chang Choe reached on an infield error with two outs, and scored on McGowan's second triple of the day.
BC added one run in the eighth to assume a 6-4 advantage. Langone walked, was sacrificed to second by Levesque, and scored on Rosado's single to right field.
The Eagles closed the scoring with two runs in the final frame. Senior shortstop David Bingham reached on an infield error to start the inning, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. McGowan singled to score Bingham, and then crossed the plate on Langone's two-out double.
Sophomore Andy Sullivan earned the win on the mound for the Eagles, scattering eight hits in a complete-game effort. He fanned five batters and did not allow a walk.
Game Notes: Boston College turned three double plays ... The Eagles did not commit an error for the third consecutive game ... Rosado, a transfer from the University of New Hampshire, was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, with one double and one RBI.
