Julio Solier goes 3-4 with two RBI
CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 20 Boston College baseball (35-15, 17-9) fell to Clemson (27-20, 7-19), 14-4 on Saturday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
Brady Miller, John D Mitchell, Aidan Gelbsman, Drew Grumbles, Matthew Spada, Peter Schaefer, John Mass, and Bobby Chicoine all appeared on the mound for the Eagles. Gelbsman's appearance was his first career one for Boston College. Gelbsman, Spada, Schaefer, Mass, and Chicoine all had scoreless appearances. Solier had his 23rd multi-hit game of the year with three hits.Â
The Tigers started fast, scoring 11 runs in the first inning.Â
Ben Williams got the Eagles' first run of the game in the top of the third inning when he led off with a double. Williams then stole third and, on the down to third, scored as the ball went into left field. Boston College got a second one when Gunnar Johnson looped a single into shallow left field that would score Julio Solier.Â
Clemson picked up three more in the bottom of the third with a one-out single that would score two runners and then a two-out single up the middle to bring in another.Â
The Eagles plated two in the top of the seventh inning when Owen DeShazo and Williams reached. The pair were moved to second and third on a groundout by Charlie Comella. Both runners scored when Solier roped a single into left field.Â
