Bitter had one of the most prolific offensive careers at North Carolina, scoring 99 goals with 72 assists and 172 ground balls in 63 career games. He started every game his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, earning All-America first team honors as a sophomore and junior and second team honors as a senior. He was named the 2010 ACC Player of the Year and made the Tewaaraton Award Top 25 List three times.
He was drafted third overall in the 2011 Major League Lacrosse draft. He played for the Denver Outlaws and Charlotte Hounds and played three years in the pros.
Bitter also co-founded Bitter Lacrosse in 2010 and has served as a tournament manager and director of lacrosse camps. He worked in marketing for Cascade Maverik Lacrosse from 2011 to 2021 and is now a brand ambassador for the company.
Billy is one of six kids. His two oldest sisters, Kristen and Megan played Lacrosse at Boston College. His father, Ward Bitter II, was an All-American Lacrosse player at Boston College and is in the Varsity Club Hall of Fame.
