2016 (JUNIOR): Saw action in 12 … member of the offensive line that allowed the Eagles to rack up over 400 yards of total offense in back-to-back games against Wagner (490) and Buffalo (400) and over 300 yards five times … did not allow quarterback Patrick Towles to be sacked against Wagner (Sept. 24) and helped BC to a season-high 300 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns and 42 points versus the Seahawks … blocked for three rushing TDs against Buffalo (Oct. 1).
2015 (SOPHOMORE): Saw action in 10 games … member of the offensive line that allowed the Eagles to score eight rushing touchdowns and put up 549 yards of offense against Howard (Sept. 12) … helped Boston College register over 300 yards of total offense and over 200 rushing yards five times … did not allow a sack against Howard or at Duke (Oct. 3) and allowed just one to Northern Illinois (Sept. 26), Wake Forest (Oct. 10) and at Syracuse (Nov. 28) ... earned the Athletics Director’s Award for Academic Achievement.
2014 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Saw action in all 13 games … competed in 71 plays on special teams … member of a tight end corps that helped produce a rushing attack that averaged 254.7 per game, a mark good for second in the Atlantic Coast Conference and 14th among all teams in college football in 2014.
2013 (FRESHMAN): Redshirted the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned Associated Press All-State first-team honors as a senior … registered 45 career receptions for 620 yards and 15 touchdowns … tallied 213 career tackles, including 15 sacks, five forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries … served as team captain … earned Ohio Coaches Association All-Ohio All-Academic team honors … earned all-county and all-district first-team honors as a junior … played for head coach Tim Budd … also was a four-year varsity letter winner in track.
PERSONAL: Joel Rich … enrolled as a general management major in the Carroll School of Management … recipient of the Barry Gallup ’69 Athletics Scholarship Fund … Joel and his younger brothers, Nathan and Daniel, are the children of Cheryl and Jeff Rich.
