Brighton, Mass. - The Boston College softball team (11-27, 2-10 ACC) falls in a tight 6-5 match up with regional rival University of Connecticut (17-22) at home.

BC got the bats going in the bottom of the second inning starting with a single from Katelyn Deguire and bunt for a single from Kae DePerio loading up the bases with Nicole Riddell on second after her walk. Sammy Horn hit a ball back to the pitcher as Deguire flew into home causing an error to score two. Emma Knight had a sac fly to center field after that to bring in a run and make the lead 3-0 for the Eagles.

The Huskies responded in the top of the third with their only two hits of the game for five runs, taking the lead and adding another in the fourth.

The Eagles battled back in the bottom of the seventh with hits from Horn, Knight and Abby Ptak. They were able to score two more as Ptak and Tavye Borders added a RBI each but they were not able to overcome UConn as they fell 6-5.

Abby Ptak hit her 12th double of the season
BC totaled 10 hits on the day, their 11th time this season hitting double digits

UP NEXT

BC hosts Syracuse for a three-game series at home starting at 4 p.m. on Friday. The Syracuse series will also feature special events at Harrington Athletic Village. Saturday's 3 p.m. game will be followed by the program's first-ever Hit-A-Thon, while Sunday will host the Eagles' annual Strikeout Cancer Game. All three games can be found on ACCNX.
