April 20, 2026 | Softball
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College softball team (12-32, 3-15 ACC) hosts Bryant (16-20) for a non-conference midweek game on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Harrington Athletic Village and on ACCNX.
Last Time Out
BC hosted No. 14 Duke for an ACC home series this past weekend, dropping all three games to the Blue Devils. Highlights included Holly Paharik flashing the leather at third base with two diving plays to hold runners, while Adriana Martinez extended her hitting streak to seven games. Emma Knight recorded her 38th RBI of the season, moving into BC's single-season top 10 for RBI and marking her second program record list appearance this season.
PTAK ATTACK!
Abby Ptak is leading the team in batting average (.385), slugging percentage (.594), doubles (13), and hits (55). She now ranks seventh in program history for single-season doubles and has recorded 17 multi-hit games on the year. Behind the plate, the sophomore catcher has thrown out 11 runners, the most in the ACC. Ptak is also on pace to break into Boston College's single-season top 10 for batting average if she maintains a mark above .366 over the remaining games, and she sits just three hits away from another top-10 single-season record.
Good Knight
Freshman Emma Knight is off to a strong start to her career, leading the team with 38 RBI while totaling 46 hits this season. Her 38th RBI moved her into Boston College's single-season top 10, marking her second appearance in the program record book this year. Knight has recorded 13 multi-RBI games and continues climbing the single-season home run list with 12 on the year, now ranking sixth all-time by an Eagle.
AD! AD!
Adriana Martinez is right behind Ptak and Knight with a .330 batting average this season. She has recorded eight home runs on the year. Martinez has also posted seven multi-RBI games, continuing to be a key part of the Eagles' lineup.
Sneaky Sammy
Sammy Horn has primarily held down the leadoff spot this season and is batting .310 across 145 at-bats. She has been one of the toughest Eagles to retire, striking out just 14 times, the fewest among BC's starters. Horn has also recorded six of the team's 21 sacrifice hits and has totaled 45 hits on the year, third most on the roster.
Teamwork Dreamwork
As a team, the Eagles currently rank in the program's single-season top 10 in three offensive categories. BC sits second in batting average (.282), third in slugging percentage (.429), and third in on-base percentage (.358). Following the Duke series, the Eagles have also totaled 37 home runs this season, moving into sixth place in the single-season team record book.
Scouting Bryant
The Eagles are 14-1 all-time against the Bulldogs and will meet Bryant for the second time this season. BC previously faced Bryant on March 7 at the Hokie Invitational, where the Eagles earned a 13-0 shutout victory. Emily Van Cleef tossed a complete game in the circle, allowing just three hits while holding the Bulldogs to a .176 batting average with four strikeouts and no runs allowed.
Bryant enters the matchup with a 16-20 overall record and a 13-4 mark in America East play. Bryce Clendenin (.360) and Alissa West (.353) lead the Bulldogs in batting average this season. In the circle, Maddy Wachter and Brooke Tracy have split time, combining for 11 wins and 66 strikeouts, while Wachter owns a 2.88 ERA.
UP NEXT
The Eagles head out for their final road trip of the season as they prepare to face Notre Dame in South Bend. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Friday and will be broadcast on ACCNX.
