James Hagens scored his league-leading 21st goal of the season
AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 13 Boston College men's hockey team suffered a 2-1 setback to No. 17 UMass on Thursday evening at the Mullins Center in the team's final road game of the season. James Hagens scored for the Eagles, while Dean Letourneau and Louka Cloutier each had an assist.
Boston College moves to 19-13-1 overall and 13-10-0 in Hockey East, while UMass improves to 20-12-1 overall and 13-9-1 in league play.
The Eagles offense generated several chances in the opening period, outshooting the Minutemen 8-0 in the opening 10 minutes. BC ended the first 20 minutes with a 10-2 shots advantage, but neither team found the breakthrough in the opening period.
UMass opened the scoring early in the second frame. Owen Mehlenbacher picked up the puck in the neutral zone, quickly finding Cam O'Neill for a shot that made its way in the back of the net.
BC tied the game midway through the final period off an incredible solo effort from J.
