Brady Miller with a career high nine strikeouts
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College Baseball (20-9, 8-4 ACC) fell to ninth-ranked Virginia (22-7, 7-5 ACC) in the finale on Sunday afternoon, 3-1.
Brady Miller started for the Eagles and matched his career high, going seven innings while striking out a career high nine batters. Gavin Soares, John Kwiatkowski, and Luke D'Ancona finished out the game, pitching two innings and giving up three earned runs.Â
Boston College struck first in the bottom of the second when the Eagles loaded bases via walks by Jack Toomey and Carter Hendrickson, along with a Luke Gallo infield single. Toomey was then brought in to score on a sacrifice fly by Cesar Gonzalez. Â
The Cavaliers put up three runs in the top of the eighth to take a 3-1 lead. They loaded the bases with no outs and were able to get a bases-loaded walk, a sacrifice fly, and a single to get all three runners home and take the lead.Â
Up Next: The Eagles will return to action tomorrow, Tuesday at 3:00 p.m., when they host Maine.Â
