March 19, 2026 | Softball
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College softball team (9-18, 1-2 ACC) returns to ACC play at the University of Pittsburgh (15-11, 2-4 ACC) this weekend for a three-game series that starts on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Vartabedian Field. Each game will be broadcast on ACCNX.
Last Time Out
Boston College traveled to South Carolina to take on the No. 23 Gamecocks. Tavye Borders led the Eagles offensively, batting .429 across the series, while Nicole Riddell added a highlight in the finale with her second home run of the season. In the circle, Bailey Kendziorski delivered a strong performance in the final game, pitching all seven innings and allowing just six hits while holding the Gamecocks scoreless through six innings.
Good Knight
Freshman Emma Knight is off to an impressive start to her career, leading the team with 24 RBI while adding 25 hits. Following the UNC series, Knight etched her name into the record books as just the sixth Eagle to hit two home runs in a single game, and she tied Hall of Famer Tatiana Cortez's mark with seven RBI in a game, a feat last accomplished in 2017. The freshman has already totaled six home runs on the season.
A Look at the Leaderboard
Knight leads the team with 24 RBI, highlighted by eight multi-RBI games this season. Abby Ptak is pacing the Eagles in batting average (.409), slugging percentage (.591), and hits (36), with her hit total ranking among the top 10 in the ACC. Ptak has also recorded a team-high eight doubles, placing her among the conference leaders in that category as well. In the circle, Emily Van Cleef owns the lowest ERA on the staff at 2.97 through 37.2 innings, earning five wins, while Kelly Colleran leads the team with 40 strikeouts.
Scouting Pitt
The Eagles hold a 24-15 all-time record against the Panthers and took last season's home series 2-1. Kyra Pittman was named ACC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday after leading Pitt to a series win over NC State, earning victories in both of her appearances. Pittman has issued the fewest walks per seven innings on the team and owns six wins on the season, while she (2.38) and Bekah Duck (2.33) both carry ERAs under 3. Offensively, Tieley Vaughn ranks second in the ACC with 14 stolen bases, with Alena Ball and Ahmari Braden close behind at 13 each. KK Esparza leads the Panthers in several key hitting categories, including batting average (.379), slugging percentage (.690), and home runs (5), while Vaughn leads the team with 29 hits.
