Baseball Prepares for Midweek Contests Against Sacred Heart and UMass Lowell

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College baseball welcomes Sacred Heart to Harrington Athletics Village for the season home opener tomorrow, followed by another mid-week home matchup with UMass Lowell on Wednesday, March 18. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. on both days, with action streaming live on ACCNX.
Record vs Sacred Heart
The Eagles hold a 4-0 all-time series lead over the Pioneers, with all four victories taking place at home. BC emerged victorious in an 8-3 decision in the most recent bout on March 18, 2025. Kyle Wolff went 2-for-4 that day, including a triple in the third inning.
Record vs UMass Lowell
Boston College is 9-2 all-time when squaring off with UMass Lowell, featuring a 5-1 record at home. The Eagles dominated the most recent matchup, shutting out the Riverhawks, 5-0, on the road last season. Brady Miller earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

The Matchups
Junior right-hander Drew Grumbles is set to take the mound on Tuesday against Sacred Heart. Aiden Emrich. He holds a 2-1 record to begin the 2026 season, featuring a 2.61 ERA and six strikeouts across 10.1 innings. Grumbles last started at UConn, where he went 2.1 innings. Emrich has made three appearances for two innings this year, recording one strikeout in six batters faced.

Last Time Out
Boston College baseball fell to No. 10 NC State last Sunday afternoon, 5-1. Brady Miller started for the Eagles in his longest outing of the year, which saw him go four innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run. He was relieved in the top of the fifth inning by Jacob Burnham, who gave up three earned runs without recording an out. Burnham was replaced by Luke D'Ancona, who pitched two scoreless innings while giving up three hits. Chase Hartsell pitched the seventh and was perfect, throwing just eight pitches to get through the inning. Bobby Chicoine finished out the game as he allowed just one earned run and two hits. In the third inning, Ty Mainolfi got Boston College going with a two-out single through to right field. Two pitches later, Mainolfi made it 1-0 Eagles when he scored on a throwing error by the Wolfpack.
