Birdball Wins Beanpot Championship

Luke Gallo leads the way with three RBI
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - No. 24 Boston College Baseball (27-12, 11-7 ACC) defeated Northeastern (20-16, 10-5 CAA) in the Beanpot Championship, 3-1. It is the first Beanpot Championship since 2023.
Jacob Burnham started for the Eagles and went a career high 5.2 innings with four strikeouts and just one earned run allowed. John Kwiatkowski relieved Burnham and threw 1.1 scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts. Gavin Soares came in for a scoreless eighth inning, while striking out one. Kyle Kipp pitched the ninth inning and pitched a scoreless inning for the save.
The Huskies scored first in the top of the fourth inning when they launched a 426-foot solo home run to deep center field.
In the bottom of the fifth, Luke Gallo launched his first career home run, 383 feet to left field, which tied the game at one.
Boston College added two more in the bottom of the sixth. Nick Wang and Jack Toomey both walked to begin the inning and advanced to second and third on a double steal. The pair were driven in by Gallo, who blooped a single into shallow left field.
Kipp closed the ninth out by working around a single to get all three outs after the game was paused for 40 minutes after the top of the eighth inning due to rain.
Up Next: The Eagles will return to action tomorrow at 3:00 p.m., when they host UConn on ACCNX.
