Tyler Mudd Throws a Career-High Seven Innings

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - No. 23 Boston College Baseball (26-12, 11-7 ACC) defeated Virginia Tech (16-18, 7-11 ACC) in the finale of their three-game series, 6-2.

Tyler Mudd started for the Eagles and went a career high seven innings while striking out four and giving up two earned runs. Kyle Kipp came on and threw two scoreless innings and did not allow a hit while striking out one.

Boston College got the scoring started in the bottom of the first when Ty Mainolfi and Nick Wang hit back-to-back singles before Jack Toomey doubled to bring in Mainolfi. Wang advanced to third before scoring when Carter Hendrickson brought him in. Toomey would move to third on the groundout and came into score when Luke Gallo singled to center.

Danny Surowiec led off the second inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Colin Larson. Surowiec came in to score for the game's fourth run, when Julio Solier singled to left center field.

The Eagles scored twice more in the third inning, when Gunnar Johnson doubled home Toomey and Hendrickson, who had advanced to second and third to lead off the inning.

The Hokies put up their first run of the game in the fourth inning when a single to shallow center field scored a runner from third.

Virginia Tech added a second run in the fifth inning with a solo shot to left field.
