Eagles move to 2-8 in ACC; Hand Jr. and Kapke combine for 38 points
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College fell short at home to Miami by a score of 74-68 Saturday afternoon. Three Eagles reached double-digit figures, led by Donald Hand Jr. with 20 points. Boden Kapke also registered his second double-double, with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

FIRST HALF
- Miami opened the contest, winning the tip and striking first with a three-pointer at 19:41. BC answered immediately with a pull-up jumper by Donald Hand Jr. to open the host's scoring.
- The Eagles recorded their first lead of the contest after a Boden Kapke three-pointer, making it 10-9. Miami would reclaim the lead quickly after and not lose it for the remainder of the half
- BC remained strong defensively, forcing eight first-half turnovers to keep the contest close. Miami responded, however, with a 6-0 scoring run to take a 29-19 lead with 5:36 remaining in the half
- A combined ten points from Fred Payne and Hand Jr. cut the deficit to one point in the closing stages.
- The Eagles trailed 33-34 at the end of the first half. Kapke held the team high of 11 points and six rebounds
SECOND HALF
- Both sides struggled to score in the opening minutes. Miami was able to grab a four-point edge into the first media timeout with a pair of layups
- The Hurricanes went on to reclaim a 10-point lead with a transition three and back-to-back layups, making it 50-40 with 11:57 remaining
- Caleb Steger provided a spark off the bench, knocking down multiple threes to bring the game back to two possessions
- With 6:46 remaining, BC went on a 7-0 run to take a 59-58 lead, its first since the first half, after Hand Jr. laced a mid-range jumper
- Miami would reclaim the lead, as both sides traded baskets to keep it within a score
- In crunch time, the Hurricanes connected on multiple baskets and free throws, holding the Eagles to five points in the final minutes.
- Miami would take a 74-68 decision
NOTABLES
- Donald Hand Jr. registered 20 points, the fifth time this season. He is now seven points away from achieving 1000 career points
- Boden Kapke registered his second double-double (18 points & 11 rebounds) for the second time this season and third time in his career
- Jayden Hastings recorded three blocks, making it six out of the last seven games the redshirt-sophomore has recorded 2+ blocks in a contest
- Fred Payne logged 11 points, making it 13 out of the last 14 games he has reached double-digit scoring figures
- BC moves to 2-8 in ACC play and 9-14 on the season
- BC moves to 31-30 all-time against the Hurricanes
