Cloutier made 38 saves for BC, Letourneau scores 19th goal of the season
BOSTON – The No. 10/11 Boston College men's hockey team fell to Boston University by a score of 3-1 on Friday evening at Agganis Arena. Dean Letourneau scored for the Eagles, while Andre Gasseau and James Hagens each had an assist. Louka Cloutier made a career-high 38 saves.
Boston College moves to 19-11-1 overall and 13-8-0 in Hockey East, while Boston University improves to 15-15-2 overall and 11-11-0 in league play.
BU opened the scoring midway through the first period, capitalizing on a BC turnover that led to a breakout. Jack Murtagh and Ryder Ritchie combined on a 2v1 that led to a Ritchie goal to put the Terriers in front. Boston University doubled its lead late in the first after a one-timer by Cole Eiserman from the right face-off circle.
The Eagles cut into the deficit early in the second with a power play immediately off the draw. After winning the faceoff, BC put together a few quick one-time passes that led to a Letourneau shot from the slot into the top corner of the goal.
BC generated 12 shots on goal during the third period, but the Terriers scored an empty net goal with less than one minute to put the game out of reach and take the win.
