February 14, 2026 | Softball
Tampa, Fla. - The Boston College Softball team (4-6) fell in both games to close out the Fonseca Memorial Tournament at USF Softball Stadium on Saturday night.
Game 1 - BC 4 | USF 5
The Eagles started the scoring in the third inning in response to the Bulls' run in the second. Carly Bunnell doubled down the left field line before Kae DePerio's single in the end field. Bunnell snuck home while DePerio rounded the bag at first.Â
The Eagles had a strong defensive fourth inning, knocking down a popped up bunt, catcher Abby Ptak catching a runner at second and a strikeout from Kelly Colleran.
The fifth inning is where the Eagles got rolling. It started with a single from Tavye Borders. DePerio then found her own way on thanks to a USF error. Emma Knight singled to left field to load the bases. After a long at bat, Ptak took her fourth ball to walk in a run. Meghan Schouten added two more with a single to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead.
USF would come back in the bottom of the seventh with four runs to take the game 5-4.
Game 2 - BC 1 | INS 4
Each team made it around the bases in the first inning. BC's run came from a Knight double and Ptak RBI single to left center.Â
The Sycamores took control in the third inning adding three runs for a lead that they held the rest of the game.
The Eagles added five more hits in the back half of the game but were unable to move runners all the way around. Indiana State would take the game 4-1.Â
