Eagles Drop ACC Opener to Georgia Tech

Eagles return for ACC Home Opener on Jan. 6
ATLANTA, Ga. - Boston College opened ACC play on the road at Georgia Tech, falling 65-53 Saturday at McCamish Pavilion. Donald Hand Jr. and Boden Kapke led the Eagles with 13 points each, combining for 26.

- Jayden Hastings scored first with a 10-foot hook shot, then added another to give the Eagles a 6-4 lead at the first media timeout
- BC held the Yellow Jackets to 1-of-10 shooting and forced three turnovers early
- Caleb Steger scored BC's first three to level the score at 15-15 midway through the first half
- Georgia Tech grew its lead to 10 with 4:30 remaining before Aidan Shaw and Boden Kapke connected on paint points to cut the lead down to six
- Georgia Tech would take a 27-24 lead going into halftime
- The game remained close early in the second half, highlighted by three-pointers from Luka Toews and Kapke
- Donald Hand Jr. scored five straight points to give the Eagles their first lead since early in the first half, making it 41-40
- BC pushed its lead to four points before Georgia Tech went on a 20-3 scoring run to push its lead to double digits
- The Yellow Jackets would hold on for a 65-53 decision
- Donald Hand Jr. and Boden Kapke both scored 13 points
- Kapke added 11 rebounds for the second straight game. He also matched a career-high three steals
- BC moves to 0-1 in ACC play and 14-21 against Georgia Tech all-time
- Boston College returns to Chestnut Hill to host N.C. State for its ACC home opener on Tuesday, January 6
- Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. and will be available on ACCN and heard on WEEI 850
- Tuesday's meeting will be the 33rd overall meeting between the Eagles and Wolfpack
