Eagles Earn Second Straight ACC Win After Defeating Pitt 65-62

BC moves to 2-4 in ACC; Kapke logs career-high 19 points
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College continued its momentum from this weekend, securing its second straight ACC win in a 65-62 decision over Pitt at Conte Forum. Boden Kapke led the way with 19 points, a career-high, while Fred Payne (18) and Donald Hand Jr. (10) added double-digit performances.

FIRST HALF
- BC opened the contest with a layup from Kapke, and Pitt responded with a three-pointer from Barry Dunning Jr.
- The Eagles retook the lead shortly after, as another layup by Payne made it 4-3. BC maintained a tight lead from 17:45 until the end of the first half
- Pitt collected a missed free throw, scored an and-one, and cut the deficit to four at 2:17
- Kapke posted a team high of 12 points in the first half, also securing a career-high in his first-half points
- Eagles led 28-22 going into the second half
SECOND HALF
- Pitt struck first in the second half, taking the lead from the Eagles for the first time since early in the first half. Payne quickly countered with a jumper, putting the Eagles ahead 30-29
- Both sides traded buckets before the Panthers surged to a six-point lead, their largest of the night, to make it 45-39
- Payne went on a six-point scoring run, capped by an and-one three-pointer to bring the score within two at 8:33
- The momentum carried, as a pair of free throws from Hand Jr. and Payne's pull-up jumper leveled the score at 57-57 with 6:10 remaining
- Pitt briefly reclaimed a three-point lead entering the final three minutes, but Forte immediately answered with a three-pointer of his own
- BC forced back-to-back defensive stops for one last possession. With 22 seconds, Payne found an open Kapke who drilled his second three of the night to give the Eagles a 65-62 lead
- BC held on for the win, earning a 65-62 victory

- Boden Kapke set a new career-high with 19 points. He also posted career bests for field goals made (8) and minutes played (36)
- Fred Payne extended his double-digit scoring tally to 15 games this season. He scored 18 total points, 16 of which came in the second half
- BC held its opponent to under 70 points at home for the ninth time this season
- BC improves to 2-4 in ACC play and 23-39 all-time against Pitt
- This win is the first time BC beat both Pitt and Syracuse in a season since 2017-18
