BC opens 2026 with first conference game of the season
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS -Â Boston College opens the New Year with its first conference game of the season as they visit Georgia Tech on Saturday, Jan. 3. Tip off is set for 2Â p.m. and can be seen on ACC Network.
BOSTON COLLEGE VS. GEORGIA TECHÂ - ALL-TIME SERIES
- Saturday marks the 35th all time meeting between BC and Georgia Tech.
- The Yellow Jackets holds a 20-14 series lead.
- BC won the most recent matchup against Georgia Tech (2/22/25), where Donald Hand Jr. finished with 20 points and seven rebounds.
WELCOME TO CONFERENCE PLAY
- BC opens the new year with ACC play, traveling to Georgia Tech to start.
- The team enters with one of the best defenses in the conference, holding opponents to 66.7 points per game, which ranks sixth.
- Donald Hand Jr. and Fred Payne rank second in minutes per game (34.4), while Aidan Shaw and Jayden Hastings rank fifth in blocks per game (1.5)

- The basketball court at Silvio O. Conte Forum will officially be named the Edgerley Family Court starting this season.

- Sandra Edgerley serves on the Boston College Board of Trustees, where she is a member of the Academic Affairs Committee. Paul Edgerley is a senior advisor at Bain Capital, where he was a managing director and played a leadership role for more than 30 years.
- The court is a lasting symbol of the Edgerleys' commitment to enhancing the tradition of excellence at Boston College.

MAKING THE LEAP - FRED PAYNE

- The redshirt-sophomore has surpassed his total points tally (172) from last season in less than half of the season.
- His field goal shooting has been more efficient, seeing a +4.4% increase from his numbers in 2024-25.
- Defensively, the redshirt-sophomore has recorded more steals (12) and blocks (4) in the same number of games played.
- Using the PAR/G metric (points+assists+rebounds/game), Payne has jumped +9.2 year-over-year.
DEFENDING THE HILL
- Boston College has defended home court through eight games, holding a 6-2 record on the Edgerley Family Court.
- The Eagles are holding opponents to 59.4 points per game and limiting them to 36.9% from the field and 24.2% from behind the arc.
- At least two BC players have scored in double figures in each home contest this season. Fred Payne scored a career high 22 and Donald Hand Jr matched a season high 26 points in the most recent contest against Le Moyne.
CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Boden Kapke logged a career-high 17 points, and Fred Payne dished a career-high seven assists against FAU (11/3).Â
- Marko Radunovic and Caleb Steger made their collegiate debuts against FAU. Radunovic recorded eight points, going 2-3 from behind the arc, and Steger played five minutes with two field goal attempts.
- Jason Asemota flourished in the home-opener against The Citadel (11/6), grabbing a career-high nine points and adding four rebounds to lead all bench scorers.Â
- Chase Forte swatted a career-high three blocks against Central Connecticut State (11/11).
- Aidan Shaw secured a career-high 14 rebounds and matched a career-high in blocks (5) against Temple (11/15). He became the first BC player to record five or more blocks since Quinten Post did against Louisville (2/13/24).
- Shaw dished a career-high three assists against Hampton (11/18).
- Hastings grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds and registered his first career double-double (11p/10r) against Davidson (11/21).
- Luka Toews recorded a career-high 21 points and six 3pt field goals, and Caleb Steger scored a career-high 12 points against FDU (12/22).
- Fred Payne scored a career-high 22 points in a win against Le Moyne (12/28), adding career-high in 3pt field goals (5) and field goals made (7).
SIZZLING STREAKS
- Fred Payne has scored double-digit figures in 10 of his last 11 games. He has surpassed 15 points in five games of that streak, with his most recent display of 11 points coming against FDU.
- Donald Hand Jr. is on a five-game streak of double digit scoring, his longest of the season. The redshirt-junior most recently matched a season-high 26 points against Le Moyne, and has surpassed 10+ points in all but two games this season.
- Aidan Shaw rode a five game streak with at least one block. His season-best mark came against Temple (14).
- Shaw also rode a seven game streak of at least eight rebounds per game. The stretch saw Shaw surpass 10+ rebounds on multiple occasions, including a career-high 14 rebounds against Temple.
INSTANT IMPACT
- The freshmen tandem of Radunovic and Steger have translated well through the first two games, combining for 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game.Â
- Kapke, Chase Forte, Jason Asemota, and Aidan Shaw are making their presence known on Chestnut Hill. The quadruple is averaging a combined 24.1 points, 17.4 rebounds, 15.0 assists, 9.5 blocks and 6.0 steals per game.
- Individually, Shaw leads the team in rebounds (7.4), and Forte ranks first on the team in steals (1.2) and assists (2.9).
