Borak finished with a career-high nine saves
STANFORD, Calif. – Boston College men's soccer fell to No. 6 Stanford by a score of 3-0 on Sunday evening at Cagan Stadium in California. After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Cardinal tallied all of its goals in the second half. Andrej Borak posted a career-high for saves, finishing with nine.
BC falls to 5-5-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the ACC while Stanford improves to 9-1-1 overall and 3-1-0 in league play.
Borak made five saves in the opening half, including a full extension dive in the 30th minute on a shot by Trevor Islam that looked to be on its way into the top corner, but Borak got a piece of it and tipped it over the bar for a corner kick for the Cardinal.
Stanford opened the scoring early in the second half when Joshua Partel looped a ball over the BC defense to the left side where Palmer Bank struck it first time out of the air into the net. The Cardinal doubled their lead just minutes later when Trevor Islam dribbled the ball across the endline and passed it back across the front of goal to Alex Chow for the finish from close range.
Islam pushed the Stanford lead to three in the 65th minute with a goal from 25 yards out.
Boston College now falls to 0-3-0 all-time against Stanford.
BC hits the road for the second-straight game, traveling to Syracuse next Friday evening. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
