Rowing V4+ Finishes 2nd, 3v4+ 3rd, 2V4+ 4th in Petite Finals at Eastern Sprints

Eagles Finish 10th at Eastern Sprints
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Boston College rowing team posted a strong performance as all crews recorded finishes in the petite final, earning 10th place as a team at the Eastern Sprints in Worcester Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles V4 crews posted a successful afternoon through Petite Finals as the Varsity 4+ recorded a second place finish, the Third Varsity 4+ recorded a third place finish and the Second Varsity 4+ posted fourth place. All of Boston College's crews recorded top 6 place finishes across Petite Finals. The Boston College rowing team placed 10th out of 20, earning 100 total points. This is one of the best overall finishes for the Eagles recently.
The morning was considerably cloudy with a couple scattered showers and a high of 72F. Winds SSW 2 to 6 mph on Lake Quinsigamond Sunday.
"A good weekend with all crews making the petite pr better against multiple highly ranked opponents," said Head Coach Grace Hollowell. "I think the team is raising the standard and we are looking forward to finding more speed in the next two weeks."
The Third Varsity 4+ got the Eagles started in the first event of the day. Coxed by Sarah Braam with rowers Molly O'Cpnnell, Sofia Tamayo, Ella Connolly and Ella Saxton, they finished their first heat with a time of 9:17.808, earning a spot in the Petite Final.
The Varsity 8+, coxed by Caroline Jennings with rowers Lucy Barratt, Lauren Bauer, Rachele Papineau, Lauren Meath, Leighton Smith, Molly Devine, Grace Yi and Leighton Davis, finished their first heat in 7:11.705, ahead of four seconds ahead of Drexel, eight seconds ahead of Colgate and over 15 seconds ahead of Connecticut. With their fourth place finish, they earned a spot in the Petite Final.
The Second Varsity 8+, a team of coxswain Madelyn Stevens, and rowers Sierra Ross, Brooke Picazio, Lauren Craven, Callaghan Nickerson, Lauren Schramm, Jennie Sherwood, Erin Smith and Kirsten Thorn posted a time of 7:33.333, recording a fourth place finish in their first heat of the day. The Eagles finish earned them a spot in the Petite Final as they posted above UMass and Temple in the first heat.
The First Varsity 4+, coxed by Lucy Fortner with rowers Quinn Baker, Claire Piacentini, Elizabeth Cobb and Jo McTamney finished the course with a time of 8:04.503 in the first heat, recording a third place finish in their first heat. The Eagles finish was over 18 seconds ahead of the next opponent, Michigan State, 23 seconds ahead of Bucknell, 33 seconds ahead of Temple and nearly 50 seconds ahead of Colgate. BC's finish earned them a spot in the Petite Final.
The Second Varsity 4+, coxed by Kendra Schmidt with rowers Chloe Wilkinson, Ruby Barnett, Neave Anderson and Olivia Hankey, recorded a time of 8:24.629 in their first heat of the day. The Eagles finished ahead of Bucknell and URI, posting a nearly 22 second difference over Rhode Island. The finish earned the 2v4+ a spot in the Petite Final.
The Third Varsity 8+ closed out the first heats before heading into Finals. Coxed by Chloe Reisinger with rowers Josie Hohenrieder, Jill Reichenbach, Reagan Rock, Avery Lehmann, Ella Davis, Charlotte Cochener, Molly Welch and Eva Kelliher, the 3v8 finished their first heat with a time of 7:35.824, nearly 10 seconds in front of Drexel. This finish sent them into the Petite Final.
All crews earned spots in Petite Finals into the afternoon.
The 3V4+ posted a third place finish in the Petite Final with a time of 10:31.213, falling behind Holy Cross and first place Boston University.
The V8+ finished with a time of 7:18.538, less than one second behind URI. The Eagles' finish was less than 16 seconds behind first place Boston University who finished with a time of 7:01.958.
Next up, the 2v8+, posted a time of 7:43.097, less than eight seconds behind George Washington, 13 seconds behind Boston University. Michigan State recorded a first place finish of 7:16.653.
In a tight battle for first, the First Varsity Four posted a second place finish with a time of 8:25.938, just one second after first place Northeastern, finishing with a time of 8:24.042. The Eagles' finish was over 7 seconds ahead of Drexel, 12 seconds ahead of UMass, 23 seconds ahead of Rhode Island and over 22 seconds ahead of Michigan state.
The Eagles 2V4+ recorded a time of 9:09.520, earning a fourth place finish, more than 11 seconds ahead of Bucknell and 24 seconds ahead of George Washington. The Eagles finished less than seven seconds behind UMass and 11 seconds behind Cornell. Northeastern posted a first place finish time of 8:42.035.
The 3V8+ closed out the Eagles racing for the day in the Petite Final as they posted a time of 8:25.466, less than one second behind UMass and nearly 16 seconds behind first place Boston University. The Eagles finished the course in fifth place, more than 25 seconds ahead of Temple.

BC's finish earned them a spot in the Petite Final.

The Eagles finished ahead of Bucknell and URI, posting a nearly 22 second difference over Rhode Island. The finish earned the 2v4+ a spot in the Petite Final.

The 3V8+ closed out the Eagles racing for the day in the Petite Final as they posted a time of 8:25.466, less than one second behind UMass and nearly 16 seconds behind first place Boston University. The Eagles finished the course in fifth place, more than 25 seconds ahead of Temple.
