BC is looking for their 24th national championship as a program
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Boston College Sailing team is set to compete in the Women's Fleet Race National Championship this week, followed by the Open Fleet National Championship next week in St. Mary's City, Maryland. The Eagles are looking for their second national championship of the academic year, after taking first in the ICSA Match Race National Championship in November.
Beginning tomorrow, 18 teams will compete for a spot in the top-nine, which will compete for the national championship on Thursday and Friday. Next week's open championship will follow the same format.
"The athletes are excited to compete at the highest level of their sport," said Head Coach Greg Wilkinson. "It's an amazing opportunity." This season, BC has finished in the top five in 11 of their 18 races, and will look to win their 24th national championship as a program this week.
