Ragsdale and Johnson Homer as Eagles Even Series at Cal

Eagles take game two 10-9 to force series rubber match on Saturday
California took a 2-0 lead in the first inning after a pair of hits and a sacrifice fly. After a scoreless second, Josiah Ragsdale cut the deficit in half with his fifth homer of the season, beating the wind on a solo shot out to right field.
With two outs in the fourth, the Eagles rallied for a three-spot to take a 4-2 lead. An inning after his home run, Josiah Ragsdale drew a catcher's interference with the bases loaded, bringing Colin Larson in from third to tie the game at 2-2. Patrick Roche wore one for an RBI hit-by-pitch in the next at-bat, and one batter later, Adam Magpoc made it 4-2 on a clean steal of home, logging his 26th stolen base of the season in fashion.
The hosts drew one back in the bottom of the frame on a solo home run, but Eagles' starter Brady Miller halted the rally there, finishing his fourth inning of work with just one earned run allowed. Miller came back out for the fifth and retired the side in order, keeping the Eagles in front 4-3 after five full. California reclaimed the lead in the sixth, going up 5-4 after two crossed home via an error in the infield.
The sides traded zeroes in the seventh, but the Eagles' offense responded in the top of the eighth. After a two-hit game on Thursday, Gunnar Johnson stepped in to pinch hit to lead off the inning, and drove the game-tying home run over the right field fence, his third long ball of the season. The Eagles worked the bases loaded, and Esteban Garcia and Colin Larson followed with a walk and a HBP, each picking up an RBI to put the Eagles in front, 7-5 midway through the eighth.
The Golden Bears matched the Eagles with a three-spot of their own, reclaiming an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the eighth. But the Eagles' offense responded once again.
Trailing by a run with two outs in the ninth, Josiah Ragsdale reached on a single that beat the shift. Ragsdale advanced to third on an error that allowed Patrick Roche to reach first, and scored the game-tying run on another error in the infield. After his clutch hitting on Thursday, Esteban Garcia delivered again, this time dropping a single into left field that brought two across, putting the Eagles in front 10-8 after their second straight three-run inning.
The hosts loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame, but Dylan Howanitz delivered in relief, inducing a double play and a soft flyout to secure a 10-9 Eagles win and tie the series.
The Eagles and Golden Bears will play in the series rubber match on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 ET.
