Offensive Production not Enough as BC Falls to Louisville

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Boston College Softball (18-21, 4-11 ACC) dropped the final game of the series against the University of Louisville by a score of 13-14 on Saturday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village. Jordan Stephens recorded four hits and drove in six runs, which are tied for the second-most RBIs in a single game in Boston College Softball history. The 13 runs the Eagles put up are tied for the third-most runs in a single game in program history.

The visitors got out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first with a two-RBI single and a two-RBI double, but the Eagles answered in the bottom of the inning thanks to a two-run shot from Jordan Stephens, her seventh of the year, making things 4-2. Louisville extended their lead to eight runs in the top of the third, but once again it was Stephens providing a spark in the bottom of the inning, driving in her third RBI of the day with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fourth innings, Gator Robinson drove in Janis Espinoza with an RBI single to right field, which was followed by two consecutive RBI singles from Hannah Slike and Jordan Stephens. Through four innings, the score was 10-7.

In the top of the sixth, the Cardinals added another four runs, making the score 14-7, but Robinson, Slike, and Stephens had something to say about that in the bottom of the inning, scoring five runs of their own. The Eagles added another run, making it 14-13 with two outs and bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh. Zoe Hines hit a ball that looked like it could've gone the distance, but it was caught on the warning track, ending the game and handing the Eagles their second consecutive loss.

On deck: BC hosts Quinnipiac on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Harrington Athletics Village, before heading south to Clemson late next week for a three game series.
