
Eagles Roll Past Virginia on Senior Day

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College earned a 24-11 victory over No. 11 Virginia on Saturday afternoon in Alumni Stadium on Senior Day.
The Eagles improve to 14-1 and 7-1 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers fall to 10-5 and 4-4 in the league.
BC poured it on with a season-high 24 goals off 16 assists and owned the circle with a 24-13 draw advantage. Ten players found the back of the net with five scoring multiple times.
Abbey Herod led the way with a personal-high 13 draw controls and Shea Baker registered seven with two ground balls and a caused turnover. Morgan Smith led the way with a personal-high three caused turnovers.
Rachel Clark led the way with seven goals and two assists for nine points while Emma LoPinto tallied nine points with six goals and three helpers, and Mckenna Davis dished out a career-high nine assists. Shea Dolce finished the game with five saves.Â
The Eagles wasted no time getting off to a hot start as Mckenna Davis found Maria Themelis for the first score of the game, starting a 6-1 run capped off by a Kylee Colbert score.
Virginia responded with a run of its own, slicing the deficit to 7-6 midway through the second period with a 5-1 surge. LoPinto stopped the comeback as she scored three straight to end the half, giving BC a 10-6 edge at the break.
BC ran away with the contest in the second half as four straight after back-to-back goals from Molly Driscoll extended the lead to 14-6 and capped off a 7-0 spurt.
The Eagles continued their dominance later by pushing the lead to double digits followed by an Emma Claire Quinn goal. BC pulled away late in the game with scores from Mallory Hasselbeck and two by Elizabeth Kirk for the 13-goal advantage.
BC ends the regular season on Thursday against ACC rival Syracuse at 7 p.m.
