March 06, 2025 | Baseball
Eagles will begin three-game set at No. 9 Cavaliers on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Boston College Baseball (4-5, 0-0 ACC) will open conference play at No. 9 Virginia (8-3, 0-0 ACC) on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., the first of three games in the first ACC series of the 2025 campaign.
The Eagles are 8-29 all-time in the series, most recently dropping two of three in Boston last year. The two sides played in Boston College's 2024 ALS Awareness Game at Fenway Park, where BC defeated the No. 14 Cavaliers, 8-2 in game one of the series, paced by a strong start from A.J. Colarusso and a home run from Vince Cimini. Colarusso tossed four shutout innings, striking out five while allowing just one hit in his start against the Cavaliers at Fenway Park last season. Eric Schroeder picked up Colarusso to end the game, striking out five over three innings to earn the win and secure the upset victory. Cimini went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the win.
Boston College is 4-5 after nine games in 2025, most recently falling to Longwood University, 13-12 on Tuesday night on the road. Prior to that, BC went 2-1 in last weekend's Central Virginia Challenge, taking down William & Mary on Friday and VCU on Sunday, dropping the middle game to Richmond. Tuesday's loss marked the fourth time the offense has scored 10+ runs, but also the fourth time an opponent has scored 10 or more. Iona transfer Josiah Ragsdale leads the team in AVG and OPS out of the leadoff spot. With two 2B on Tuesday, veteran shortstop Sam McNulty has continued a strong offensive start, taking over the team-lead in SLG. His middle-infield companion Vince Cimini is currently riding an 8-game hitting streak, with five RBI on Tuesday. The Eagles are 2nd in the ACC in stolen bases, with Adam Magpoc leading the team with 11, on 11 attempts.
All three games will be available to stream on ACCNX.
