Jayden Hastings perfect from the field with career-best 18 points
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Jayden Hastings led three Boston College players in double-figures with a career-high 18 points as the Eagles dropped a 78-69 decision to #11/11 Clemson on Wednesday night in the home regular season finale.
Hastings was a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor, while also tallying five rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals in 35 minutes.
Elijah Strong added 15 points and six boards in 26 minutes, connecting on 3-of-5 from the outside, while Dion Brown chipped in with 14 points, three boards, and two steals.
For the game, BC connected on 41.7% from the floor (25-60), including 6-of-18 from the perimeter. Â The Eagles registered 11 assists on their 25 made field goals.
BC closes the 2024-25 home slate with a 9-8 mark.Â

FIRST HALF
- There were three ties and two lead changes in the first half
- Tied at 9-9 after a Dion Brown layup early on, Clemson used a 14-2 run over the next 5:06 to build a 23-11 lead with 10:41 left.
- The Tigers would lead by as many as 16 - 41-25 - with 4:07 to play, before BC closed the period on a 14-8 push
- Both teams connected at a high rate in the opening frame, with BC connecting on 50% (16-32) and Clemson 59.4% (19-32)
- After a Joshua Beadle layup at the buzzer, BC would trail 49-39 at the break
- Clemson led by 11 - 56-45 - less than three minutes into the second half, but BC used six unanswered points to get within five
- A pair of Fred Payne free throws made it 56-51 with 15:12 to go
- Dion Brown scored five straight in the middle of a 7-0 run, thanks to a breakaway layup and a fast break 3-pointer, to get BC within two - 62-60 - with 10:41 to go
- Clemson responded with seven straight, going back up nine - 69-60 - with seven and a half minutes left
- A traditional three-point play from Hastings made it 70-67 with 6:16 to go, but BC went cold down the stretch, making only 1-of-13 amidst a 5:32 scoring drought to close the game.
- Jayden Hastings' perfect 8-for-8 shooting night was the best by a BC player since Nik Popovic was 9-for-9 against Minnesota on Nov. 26, 2018.
- Since the 1996-97 season, seven BC players have been perfect from the floor (min. eight FGA).
- Tonight's game marked the return of former Eagles standout Jaeden Zackery '24. Â In three seasons with Boston College (2021-24), the Salem, Wis. guard finished with 1,106 points, 330 rebounds, 331 assists, and 168 steals - which ranks ninth all-time in the BC record book.
- He finished with a game-high 21 points - his third 20-point game at Conte Forum
- Boston College finishes up play on the road, traveling to Pittsburgh on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
